Dan Harris created Harris Precious Stones in 2008 for the purpose of sharing beautiful gemstones with people who appreciate them. Dan operates Harris Precious Stones on a part time basis around his main occupation as a professor at the University of the Fraser Valley where he teaches Computer Science and Astronomy.

Dan's gemmological pursuits stem from his deep love for nature, science, computing, and handcrafted quality. He holds a Bachelor's degree in information systems, a Master of Science degree in information technology, and a Master of Arts degree in progress. He has studied gemmology through the Gemological Institute of America and the Canadian Gemmological Association. All of the stones available through HPS are natural products of the earth and have been verified as such using the latest scientific methods. The latest technology is used to share the gemstones with those who appreciate them and to potential buyers.

Each stone is a unique and singular creation individually hand cut and polished. All stones are chosen for their beauty, desirability, and lasting value.
